SUSANNA BELTRAMI

Susanna Beltrami's name first appeared on the Italian dance scene in 1986, when, upon returning from the Merce Cunningham Foundation in New York, she became one of the leading choreographers in Italy, marking an important new beginning for contemporary dance.
She immediately received teaching and management positions in the most important dance training centers in northern Italy, and at the same time proved to be a pioneer of modern and contemporary dance in Italy through her innovative choreographic work, always open to experimentation and cross-pollination between different artistic worlds.
After intense artistic collaborations with musicians, sound designers, and important Italian directors such as Maurizio Scaparro, Giorgio Albertazzi, and Andrée Ruth Shammah, in 1998 she created, together with étoile Luciana Savignano of the Compagnia Pier Lombardo Danza – now the Susanna Beltrami Company – based in Milan and recognized by the Ministry of Entertainment.
Since 2006, she has directed the Accademia Susanna Beltrami, a center of excellence for dance training and the founding nucleus of the future ‘home of dance’, DanceHaus Susanna Beltrami, inaugurated in 2009, the year in which the choreographer was also involved in the RAI DUE talent show ‘Italian Academy’.
DanceHaus Susanna Beltrami is now considered a true dance community, a hotbed of arts and crafts, and an international reference point for young artists and dance creatives who have the opportunity to experiment, exchange ideas, and specialize in a stimulating environment in line with current cultural and artistic trends.
Since 2018, she has been co-director of the National Dance Production Center, DANCEHAUSpiù.
